fairy tale comes true

all about wedding

Since my last blog entry, I was kept busy with quite many things. Wedding preparation and business setup are enough to keep me frenzy crazily busy.Amazing to others when they found out that in less than a month’s time, most of the important arrangements have been made for our wedding.

They are:

  1. Wedding Venue - Our first choice was Singapore Arts Museum, The Glass Hall, unfortunately, the venue was already taken for our big day, so we checked with all other museums in Singapore, and was suprised that ALL museums were booked for that day!!! That worried me for a while, then I sought help in the wedding forum (oh yes, I am one of those who would visit forum and seek advice), and we were recommended with Fort Canning Centre, The Gallery. We were pretty quick with the decision, and booked the venue and placed deposit for the reservation.

  2. Caterer - Before we confirmed the venue, I had sourced around for good and reliable caterer to host our event. Shortlisting was quick, and we met up with the caterer on the same day we went to view the venue. The caterer was wonderful! (Here, I referred to the service and attitude of the Manager, Richie Ling who attended to us, although I heard the food provided by this caterer was fantastic, I wouldn’t comment now since we have not gone for food sampling).

  3. Photographer - We met up with the photographer from Jon Keng on the same day, and found the jounalistic photography style suits our preference, and we confirmed the reservation of the photographer the next day, a deposit was transferred via IBT to the photographer. One thing to compliment on the photographer, his presentation was sincere, and that was one of the main factors of decision making for us.

  4. Florist - We met up with our very pleasant and professional florist a week after we had confirmed the venue. We arranged to meet at site so that we could have a more efficient discussion on the venue decoration. We are very pleased with good attitude.

  5. Bridal Dress - After meeting with florist, we went shopping at Centerpoint, and managed to grab a pair of pretty Swarovski crytal studded scandals standing on 2.5″ heels. It must had been a less than 10 mins decision. After which, we went to meet our dressmaker and discussed on the dress. Measurements were taken, design finalised, veil style confirmed. 1st fitting should be early January.

  6. Solemnizer - Confirmed with a Justice of Peace, Mr Chan, to conduct the solemnization ceremony for us at Fort Canning Centre. He sounded like a really sweet elderly over the phone though. E-filing for the solemnization had been done too. The next step is to arrange for a meeting with Mr Chan to get the consent letter from him. Then, we will need to submit the letter together with other documents for verfication on the first appointment to ROM, before the actual solemnization can take place.

  7. Makeup - After much consideration, I have decided to do my own makeup. I am ready to risk the possible ‘washed out’ effect on the photos, after all, that could be what I really am. I went for a Bobbi Brown makeover and get some products from them. They have wonderful colors of good quality products. The bonus was that with my small spending, I won the daily lucky draw, which I collected the products hamper worth S$300 the day after.

  8. Air ticket - Air tickets are booked online for our honeymoon. Although we are not going somewhere really far, but I am looking forward for the trip - Bangkok. Bangkok is also the first trip Mike and I took in our relationship. Ok, at the same time, I need to source for some exotic fabric material too. Oops

With the above listing achieved, we are left with some time to do up the nitty gritty things, and wait to follow-up with the people (above) when the wedding date nears.

I needed the time to prepare for my small scale business in Pandora’s Box, which was finally launched on 18 Nov 2006. On the same day, the official website (online store) for my business www.simpleartsplanet.com, was lauched too.

Once that has been taken care of, I proceed to prepare for the wedding invitation card, deciding on the wedding favors, ordering the parts from States etc.

So, these are the images to be used on our wedding cards. The wordings are not shown here, but they are already in place. To view the entire card layout, click the image and you will be brought to our wedding site.

Wedding Favor

Wedding favors

This is the sample of the wedding favor, I am making some amendment to the ‘heart’ and probably change the font too. Guess everthing needs to be finalized by next week as I would send the artwork for print by then.

I have also started the website for our wedding. This site consists of Event info, Our Story, Our Family, Wedding Stationery, Photo Album, RSVP and also a guestbook. I am having a lot of fun creating this site.
(which is now moved to this blog, so some pages no longer exists, such as RSVP)

I have already received a RSVP from Cynthia, who is unable to attend my wedding as she is only returning to Singapore in April next year. I am excited to have her back home though, we can always make up for meals when she returns.

Following the cards printing, would be finalizing the mailing list, and start to prepare for the sending of the cards. Since the favors are handmade, I am spreading it across a month to make all of them (it’s tough to make 200 favors in one day!!!!!!)

For now, I will continue to have fun!!!!!!
