beanie for me
Published November 17th, 2008 in +everything else.I’ve been really hard at work lately, all official orders are sent out. All other less urgent orders are in process (I only have a pair of hands, and 24 hours, no more, no less).
For those of you who do not crochet small dolls, you won’t be able to comprehend the strain that my hands have to put up with.
I spent less than 1.5 hrs to complete this simple beanie, I would take approximately 3 hrs to make one doll, and up to 5-6 hrs for the wedding doll. The smaller the doll is, the more details the doll has, will contribute to the hours of making, and the amount of effort and focus put into every stitch.
Don’t believe me? Don’t you sometimes wonder why a small wallet/purse costs more than a larger sling bag with simpler design? The amount of work and precision of each stitch = hours of work = cost of labor = final cost of product = price of product.
I certainly look spaced out in this photo eh? Apart from being tired, I am just pale without makeup. LOL. Sure, the pose looks a little weird too. Seriously, I have not worn a beanie before, I have not made one before too. Pretty good for first beanie eh.
When I am finished with all existing orders, I may just swing by Spotlight to check out some wooly yarns, and make more beanie! Not that I am traveling to cold places any sooner, actually I am traveling to a relatively cold place in January (it’s pretty freezing in my context, I would be mind frozen in 18deg C, and it is expected to hit around 10deg C when we travel).
It’s a nice switch from tiny stitches to loosely large stitches, so that my hands can relax a little, that could be the reason why I am suddenly into beanie. I used to do granny squares when I needed to relax, crochet is very therapeutic, and it always helps to de-stress and know that you are still capable of completing task.
